The next day, we were briefed by the American Council of Young Political Leaders and then by the U.S. Department of State. At each of these briefings, the delegation was updated about the current state of affairs, politically, economically, and culturally, in Nicaragua and El Salvador.

After the briefings, we headed to National Airport in Washington, D.C. to catch our flight to Managua, Nicaragua. Our flight had a connection in Houston. On the first leg of the flight I sat in a middle seat between two people I did not know. But on the flight to Managua I got to sit next to Marianne - we had a good time – and I am not sure who was more excited to get there, her or me!
